Homemade Hairspray! (Bonus Make-Up Sealer!)

I've read plenty about making homemade, citrus hairspray in my "curly hair research." I've put off trying this, because I've found a spray that's water-soluble and can hold up in a hurricane...Rave, believe it or not!
Now, I have a little secret to share. When I finish my hair each morning I spritz the hairspray all over my head including on my face. I've read online that this makes a great make-up sealant. I've been doing this for around a week or two and I'm very happy with the results!
When I decided yesterday to make homemade hairspray the poor recipe had to hold up to two expectations, poor thing!
I'll share the recipe with you now:
1 Orange
2 Cups of Water
Sugar (Optional it increases the hold)
1/4 Cup Alcohol (OPTIONAL!!!) This is a preservative!
5 drops Lavender Essential Oil (OPTIONAL)

Slice the orange and boil it in a saucepan with the 2 cups of water and sugar. (I used 1 tablespoon of sugar. If you increase the sugar you increase the stickiness/hold of the hairspray.) Boil until it's decreased in volume by 50%. Strain the mixture and add the optional EO and alcohol. I like lavender oil, and I put it anything I can! This is not necessary, but if you happen to have it on hand I recommend it! It smells awesome with the orange scent! Allow it to cool and pour into a spray bottle, and now you're done!

And the review?
So far I really like it! It had a descent hold, though not a "maximum hold." I think the next time I will put in more like a quarter cup of sugar instead of just a tablespoon. When I spray it I can smell the alcohol, but after the initial spray, it's just lavender and orange, perfect!
As far as a make up sealant? Way better than regular hairspray and it smells better too! I'll confess I tried it on my lipstick too, but I was careful not to let any of it into my mouth. I don't want to taste the alcohol.
My last little evaluation is this: It smells good, works fairly well on hair and great on the face!
If you decide to try it please let me know what you think!
