Favorite Hymns & Hymnists: Praise Him, Praise Him

It seems like all my very favorite hymns are written by the same lady, Fanny Crosby! (Read more about that here!)
I was thinking of the hymn: Praise Him, Praise Him!

Praise Him, praise Him—Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
Sing, O earth, His wonderful love proclaim.
Hail Him! hail Him! highest archangels in glory;
Strength and honor give to His holy name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children,
In His arms He carries them all day long:
O ye saints that dwell on the mountain of Zion,
Praise Him, praise Him ever in joyful song.

We so often forget what it means to praise the Lord. It's not about us! It's about giving back to the Lord. Giving Him the praise and honor that should be our natural reaction to His goodness and greatness! He's a magnificent Lord! Creator, omnipotent! Just His essence should bring us into a state of awe, but what is even more inconceivable is that He is also a merciful, loving Savior! I could never deserve His excellent mercy, but He's so amazingly gracious that He bestows it upon me before I even recognize the necessity of it! What an amazing and marvelous God He is!
Let's be careful to remember that we shouldn't be desiring anything out of our worship to the Lord, it's all about giving Him the honor and glory that is rightfully His!
